National Pet Day

“Goody – a day that’s all for me! You know that I will always be here for you. I love to be a part of your life and to spend every waking (and sleeping) moments with you. I may not be able to speak, but I know when you are happy and when you are sad. You are my world. I want to be your companion as long as I have breath in my body. Be here for me and I will give you my undivided attention and everlasting loyalty…Give me a day – YOU have MY LIFE.” — your loyal pet

National Pet Day

…was established by animal activist, behaviorist, author and Editor-in-Chief of ‘Pet Home Magazine,’ Colleen Paige, in recognition of abandoned and suffering animals everywhere. Today is the perfect day to take the opportunity to recognize everything your beloved furred, feathered or scaly creature has meant to you. Did you know approximately 7.6 million animals enter into a shelter each year? According to the ASPCA, out of these millions of pets, less than half find homes. These statistics are staggering, but true, making it even more important to spay and neuter our furry pals, as well as to “adopt, not shop” for a family pet.

If you don’t have a pet, then why not visit your local shelter or animal rescue group to give a home to an animal in need? Even if you can’t take on a pet at this time in your life, you can still help animals in need. Give to your local shelter in the form of a monthly or one-time financial donation, blankets, towels, food, toys or even your time. Most shelters depend on outside resources for funding and to help get the work done. This can be an extremely rewarding experience and more importantly, these victims of abandonment rely on the kindness of volunteers for the extra care and attention (walks, baths, extra treats and a kind word) the regular over-worked staff simply do not have time to provide.

One person may not be able to save all the animals of this hurting world, but together we can stand against animal cruelty to make a HUGE difference.

Here at KirinGie.Me we are joining hands with other dedicated folks to help find homes for animals that may have otherwise been abandoned. We can’t completely end the sad truth of animals in shelters or left on the streets, but we WILL make an impact. Won’t you help us? Join us at KirinGie.Me for the latest in pet news and to help bring awareness to the plight of helpless animals by subscribing. Your voice can make a difference.

In addition, in honor of pets everywhere, we invite you to submit photos of your beloved furry, feathered, scaly and skin pals – we would love to see them – or simply leave a comment about how we are doing so far. We can’t do this alone. Join in the fun and the fight.
